Is your name John Sanchez? Do you know anyone named John Sanchez? I'm excited to announce the first ever John Sanchez Global Conference!

What

The first ever convening of as many people named John Sanchez as we can find—the goal is getting 25-50 John Sanchez's all in one place. We will find a venue that can fit all of us in NYC, get to know each other, develop a deeper understanding of what it's like to be a John Sanchez, and celebrate having a cool name. It will be a great opportunity to get to know lots of different people from different walks of life.

When and When

Exact date TBD, but the plan is to choose a Saturday in November, at a venue somewhere in New York City.

The Plan

• In the coming months before the conference happens, we'll create a John Sanchez WhatsApp group to coordinate and say hi. See below for details on how to get added to the group!

• The event itself will last 3 hours, probably from 2-5pm.

• We'll have a keynote speaker -- John Sanchez. There will also be a panel, titled "The Many Faces of John Sanchez", with moderator: John Sanchez, and speakers: John Sanchez, John Sanchez, John Sanchez, John Sanchez.

• Name tags, icebreakers (e.g. do you go by any nicknames?) and plenty of unstructured conversation time to get to know each other.

• Afterwards, anyone who's down to stick around can come grab drinks and keep hanging out.

• Ultimately, the vision is bigger than just one meetup. The longer term vision is to create a John Sanchez Global Network, so that we can stay in touch, hang out, and support each other. I could imagine a monthly John Sanchez newsletter that nominates a John Sanchez of the month, or a John Sanchez asks and offers page to help each other out. We can discuss how to stay in touch more at the event itself.

• A small budget may be available for John Sanchez's who want to travel in to NYC for the event and need financial support.

• A Zoom info session may be announced in September or October for any John Sanchez's who want more information or to ask questions.

Who

Anyone named John Sanchez. People named John Sánchez are welcome. If your name is Jon Sanchez, Jonathan Sanchez, or Juan Sanchez, unfortunately you do not meet this criteria.  Proper identification will need to be provided at the door.

Why You Should Come

1. Meeting other people with the exact same name as you is a strange and delightful experience -- now imagine being in a room with many dozens of them at once! 

2. This will be a celebration! Of ourselves, of each other, of our shared John Sanchez experience.

3. It will be highly memorable, silly, and fun. Plus you'll get merch, snacks, potentially make some new friends with lots of different backgrounds, careers, and life stories.
